MOSES, square format

$250.00

Terracotta Moses figure, with details in white glaze, applied gold leaf, and acrylic paint. The design of this square-format Moses is based roughly on a Neolithic (2000-1900 BCE) sculpture at the Cyprus Museum, which uses a frontal, tripartite composition. Moses is likewise divided into three, with his staff as a fourth element. The resulting, rather wide front, imples great strength and stability. From the side, the figure is triangular in format, another ancient symbol which is also physically very stable.
