Description and critical praise for the Child’s Bible

(Translated from the publisher’s website):

After 2 ½ years of intensive work, Bruno Landthaler and Hanna Liss are presenting the 5th and final volume of the Child’s Bible “Tell it to Your Children” in a translation that is suitable for children and yet close to the Hebrew original. Parasha by parasha (chapter by chapter) the Torah is retold in clear and lively language.

Helpful introductions and commentaries make it easier to understand complex passages and also open up the more demanding texts of the Torah. In this respect, “Tell it to your children” is not only a child’s Bible, but also a profitable read for adults and interested young people.

The colorful and subtle images by Darius Gilmont add color to the reading sections and make this Torah edition one of a kind.

– An exceptional gift for Bar or Bat Mitzvah and a reference book for the whole family.

– An indispensable work for religious education.

– A recommended title for all synagogues and for public (and school) libraries in places with Jewish communities, and also desirable for many other libraries.

– A cross-denominational text, which is why both an Orthodox rabbi and liberal rabbis are included in the forewords to the individual volumes.

The first volume, Bereshit – In the Beginning, received the Book of the Month award from the German Academy for Children’s and Youth Literature in July 2014.

“Hanna Liss and Bruno Landthaler provide countless parents and educators with a means to begin passing on Jewish (moral-human) identity in a clever and wonderful way.” Rabbi Julian-Chaim Soussan

“Everything about this children’s Torah is really coherent and successful: the selection of text, the retelling of the content and the text presentation (layout), the background explanations and – last but not least – the illustrations. Many people with great skill and creativity have created something very valuable here.”  Prof. Dr. Thomas Hieke, Biblical Book Show
