The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Provide a sign for yourselves,’ you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff, cast it before Pharaoh, and it will become a serpent.’ ” Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and they did as the Lord had commanded; Aaron cast his staff before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Pharaoh too summoned the wise men and the magicians, and the necromancers of Egypt also did likewise with their magic.
